Get to know Lindsay Lee, nursery owner and Seed Savers Exchange advisor.
What are you going to speak about at the MOTHER EARTH NEWS FAIR?
My program will be about grafting fruit trees by both “whip and tongue” method and “bud grafting”. I will also touch on the antique apple project at Seed Savers Exchange.
What are you most looking forward to sharing with FAIR attendees?
Just how easy and rewarding grafting your own fruit trees can be.
What are you most looking forward to at the FAIR?
Meeting lots of like minded people.
Tell us about your background with your particular topic.
I learned grafting techniques while working for a wholesale tree nursery in Minnesota some 30 years ago. Since then I have stayed in the nursery industry but grafting trees has been more of a hobby.
Why should fairgoers attend your presentation?
You can make your own trees! You can make your own orchard, save an antique variety, or multiply a favorite tree you may already have.
What advice do you have for FAIR attendees?
When I go to large trade shows and things like that I like to see how many people I can meet.
If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only have one thing, what would you choose?
I would like it if my wife Lee Zieke were there. She has been my life partner, my business partner, and best friend for a long time now. And after all two heads are better than one. Right? Oh, that isn’t the sort of answer you were looking for was it. You wanted something like a pocket knife, or a hand full of seeds. Well nope. I know about these kind of trick questions and they deserve a trick answer.
Thanks, Lindsay. We’ll see you at the FAIR!
