Are you short on bird netting? Try old lace curtains. My bird netting was already protecting my tomatoes from thieving jays when I caught one stealing my grapes. I grabbed some used, polyester lace curtains, fastened them around the vines with clothespins — and no more stealing by the jaybirds.
The lace curtains can be easily removed for harvesting and can be reused. Best of all, the curtains don’t grab on to everything like the bird netting does.
