Here are a few gardening ideas that have helped me in the past.

• To prevent vegetable worms from eating your tomato and other food plants, plant some dill nearby.
• Asparagus stalks will stay firm and fresh for two weeks if the ends are wrapped in wet tissue paper.
• To heal a broken flower stem, slice a clear drinking straw down one side, place straw over the injured stem, and seal it with tape. The stem should heal in a few days and be as good as new.
