In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, Target has opened recycling stations at each of its 1,740 stores.
These permanent stations are located at the front of every store and allow customers to recycle aluminum cans, MP3 players, cell phones, ink cartridges, plastic bags and glass or plastic beverage containers.
"We know that eco-friendly living is top-of-mind for our guests, and the launch of store recycling stations allows us to continue to partner with them to curb unnecessary waste in our stores and our communities," said Shawn Gensch, VP brand marketing, Target.
In addition to the recycling stations, Target has also launched an online eco-boutique where you can find information on sweepstakes, getting a free reusable bag, top green products and Target's recycling efforts and commitment to the environment.
Some of the prizes of the current sweepstakes (which ends April 30) are a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid, a trip for four to a National Park and electric scooters.
