Have you ever wished you could easily find someone who would benefit from the excess food from your gardens and fruit trees? I have! Well, thanks to AmpleHarvest, there’s now an app for that.

Through AmpleHarvest’s online database, gardeners can find all registered food pantries within a specified distance. The program has become so successful that the organization has released an app for smartphones and tablets to make the garden-to-pantry connections even easier to make.

Using the GPS built into the phone, the app displays a Google map marking all of the registered food pantries in the area. The app also allows food donors a convenient way to inform AmpleHarvest about the items or produce donated, should they wish to.

For more information on how to put your bumper crop to good use, go to the AmpleHarvest website.
