I was concerned about John Ivanko's response to a letter from Broken Bow, OK. His response made it seem that if we live the proper organic and holistic life style, we will never need hospitalization or other extreme, expensive health care. Probably he didn't mean to sound so impractical, but real life shows us that "things happen". Somehow people who wish to be completely independent have to plan for these costly eventualities. My husband and I live in a foreign country as volunteer missionaries, and though retired, we know we can't depend on Medicare here. We had to find some other alternative to at least help us out with the catastrophic events that might occur. And we do have Social Security to pay our way each month. We live frugally, save as much as we can, and know that "things happen" even though we are still in good health.
