Eve Blossom is a woman with a beautiful, honorable mission. I met her about five years ago, when we featured her meticulously renovated Charleston home in Natural Home. Over the years, as we’ve featured Eve’s company, Lulan Artisans, which produces hand-woven and hand-dyed textiles made by fairly paid artisans in southeast Asia. I’ve come to adore Eve as much as her rich, gorgeous products. Eve’s personal and professional philosophy fits right in with our mission at Natural Home. “Our years of in-depth work with Lulan's weaving partners in developing countries has led us to understand that true sustainability has four critical components—economic, cultural, environmental and social,” Lulan’s website states.

Since well before I met her, Eve has been working tirelessly to improve the lives of weavers (most of them women) in southeast Asia by helping them create thriving businesses. She founded Lulan as “a unique for-profit social venture, a creative collaboration between contemporary American textile designers and gifted Asian artisans.” In recent years she’s taken up fighting human trafficking—something she has learned too much about during her work in Asia.

I support Eve and her work as often as possible—and that’s not hard to do because her textiles are sublime. This morning I was happy to find an email from Eve letting me know that Target’s Red Shop is also supporting Lulan’s efforts by selling Lulan Artisans Exclusive Clutch by Eve Blossom. Sales of the $79.99 handbag in a rich mulberry ikat print empower “crafters in Cambodia who have suffered landmines and polio to create beautiful wares,” Target states.

“Buy a clutch purse or two, and let's support Target in its first time offering a product to help prevent human trafficking,” Eve urges. I know where my Christmas money is going.
