Explore the Waters During Blue August

Reader Contribution by Emily Kennedy

Planet Green is gearing up for their annual Blue August event, a month-long series of television programming, online articles and more that explore the world’s oceans, marine wildlife and conservation issues. Philippe Cousteau and his sister, Alexandra, will be the hosts of this month-long special programming. There will be several documentaries and shows premiering on the Planet Green channel that dive deep into the world’s waters, informing and motivating viewers to get involved and become connected. Considering water covers approximately 70 percent of the earth’s surface, it is evident that it is an essential natural resource that we rely on heavily. Blue August is devised to prompt motivation among people toward protecting and sustaining the waters as well as to highlight the value and significance of water.

During Blue August you will find anything from new articles, fun facts, videos, a new campaign called Ban the Bags, Butts and Bottles and a programming schedule on the Planet Green website. Treehugger, Planet Green’s sister site, will also provide important ocean information throughout the month.

There are endless options that Blue August offers for you to become involved including ways to save the oceans, explore the oceans, sustainable seafood information, informative videos that will engage you in important water-related issues and much more!

If you’re interested in becoming involved with water conservation and restoration, or just want to learn more on the topic, don’t miss Blue August!
