As we get older, we often have problems with gingivitis and minor infections in our gums. Here is a temporary herbal treatment that will make you more comfortable and help fight off minor infections until you can get to a dentist — very important if you must travel some distance for health care. Take a pinch of powdered sage and place it on the affected area, preferably before bedtime so the sage is not washed away by drinking liquids.

You will notice a marked improvement in the morning, with a reduction in pain and swelling. This should provide temporary relief and is generally more palatable than some of the commercial preparations containing clove oil.
