Over the years, I always choose recycled paper products, so the paper is already used before it comes into my house. I’ve found ways to use almost everything at least twice and sometimes even five or six times. Each new life begets another. I shred all of the paper and cardboard, and use it as animal bedding. I’ve used it in the horse stalls, for the chickens, in hamster cages and pig pens.

The soiled bedding is given one more new life when it goes into my compost pile.
