Get to know Rene’ Skaggs of the Pierce Conservation District.

What are you going to speak about at the MOTHER EARTH NEWS FAIR?

Increasing pasture productivity on the Small Scale Agriculture Stage on Saturday from 3-3:45.

What are you most looking forward to sharing with FAIR attendees?

The simple tools to successful pasture management.

ReneSkaggsWhat are you most looking forward to at the FAIR?

Seeing all the sustainable living exhibitors.

Tell us about your background with your particular topic.

I have been a farm resource specialist with the Pierce Conservation District for 14 years educating livestock farm owners on practice that improve their farm’s productivity while protecting natural resources. I also live on a 10 acre farm with 7 horses and 8 chickens where I practice what I teach.

Why should fairgoers attend your presentation?

If you have a small livestock farm and want to produce more hay to decrease the amount of hay you purchase and/or increase the number of livestock you can feed, then you won’t want to miss this presentation.

What advice do you have for attendees?

Wear comfortable shoes and plan on spending the whole day.

If you were stranded on a deserted island and could have only one thing, what would you choose?

Tools to grow and catch food.

Thanks Rene’. We’ll see you at the FAIR!
