This scene reminds me of home. We use to have a couple of Great Pyrenees dogs that roamed around the farm during the day and out in the fields by night. This is the perfect image of what a Great Pyrenees is bred to do: guard livestock. While we didn’t have a ton of livestock for them to guard, they definitely kept watch over the farm. Whether that was warding off night predators or keeping strangers away.
Great Pyrenees dogs are one type of guard dog, but read Best Guard Dog for Your Homestead to find out the best dog for your homesteading needs. Plus, learn some tips and tricks about working with guard dogs.
