A reader completes his log cabin home.
Dick Sellers' finished $12,000 log cabin home. Virtually all of the interior and exterior wood in the home is pine, which Dick logged from his 7 1/2 acres.
PHOTO: MOTHER EARTH NEWS STAFFA year ago in "Build a Log Cabin Without Spending a Fortune," MOTHER EARTH NEWS told you about the log cabin home Dick Sellers was making—and had nearly completed—from pine lumber he logged himself and milled with a homemade sawmill. Dick originally said the structure cost under $11,000, but now confesses that "the $1,200 septic tank put the final figure closer to $12,000." He's forgiven.
