For quite a few months now, I’ve been posting to this blog, sharing information and giving glimpses into our lives here at Stony Knolls
Farm as well as our Goat School program. I hope you have gleaned plenty and enjoyed the photos and good goat husbandry tips.
I love doing this blog, and encourage each and every one of you who read it to please ask any questions you might have in the comments section or you can email us at info@goatschool.comI will be more than happy to answer them, plus it will give me an idea of what information all of
you are looking for!
If you have read my posts before, you know that we do a program at our farm called “Goat School”. This is a two day event that gathers folks from all over the country. It’s a whole lot of learning, fun, and good food all combined into a great weekend. If you would like to learn more about it, please visit our website www.goatschool.com . There are photos of past Goat Schools, good tips on places to stay, and some travel info as well. The registration form has all the details on costs, etc.
Our next Goat School is Columbus Day Weekend, Saturday, October 6th, and Sunday, October 7th, with a Soap and Cheese
Making Class to be held on Monday, October 8th.We have a great time, and wish you would join us!
All this being said, let me tell you about a program that we have become part of called “Kickstarter” through Amazon.com.We are hoping to raise funds to build a permanent, pavilion style structure with a roof, and wooden floors to keep students, warm and dry in some of our unpredictable Maine weather!
We always figure out some way of dealing with the inclement weather, but would love to be able to keep our attendees more comfortable.
I ask you to go to the link and look at the video we have there. It’s great! A friend at the University of Maine, Ryan Cowan, put it together for us, and it’s all about what we do at Goat School. It also has the best photos of baby goats, ever!So turn up the volume so you can listen to the cool banjo music and visit:http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1186526679/a-class-room-for-goat-school
We would very much appreciate anything you can do to help, every little bit counts! There are gifts offered for each and every level of giving. And, please share this with others who might enjoy it or be interested in helping out.
Also, we are offering a Soap & Cheese Making Class on September 9th, 2012 in conjunction with International Homesteading Education Month and Mother Earth News.
