Re-Engineering The Mercury Beaver XR7

Reader Contribution by Chip Beam

Chip here, back again to update the progress of the new design for this years record breaking attempt. When we where originally retrofitting the XR7 for gasification we had only two weekends from start to finish. We got the transformation done just in time for the car hauler to pick it up and truck to the salt flats. We didn’t have any time to make any adjustments for the supercharger which was demanding a lot more air flow then we had anticipated. We knew we need bigger fuel and air support to get the pressure from the supercharger to spool some positive boost. So back at the lab we are installing a new three inch line from the air dryers to the throttle body. We wanted to use the after coolers as originally mounted so we split the larger line in and out, and this made for a really awesome looking design. I will be installing the new air mixing valve this weekend and should have some good footage to share next week. We are still looking for some good sponsors to help the effort and if you can hookup with us soon we are slatted to be on Good Morning America and Huffington Post/AOL Autos called “Translogic”. So check out the progress of RX7 and go to BeaverEnergy.com for any sponsorship questions. And don’t forget to check us out in person at the Silver Springs Mother Earth News Fair this year!
