--The national conversation about fracking--the process of pumping toxic chemicals and water underground to release natural gas—heated up after the New York Times ran a frightening expose on lax regulation of the industry in Pennsylvania. (If you haven’t seen the movie Gasland yet, it’s worth renting this weekend.)

--A CNBC poll found that 96 percent of respondents believe that GMOs should be labeled. (Huffington Post pointed out that genetically modified food is almost impossible to avoid.)

--ABC World News launched its Made in America Challenge series, in which a Dallas family agrees to have their house made over using 100 percent American-made products. The series highlights gorgeous, green, domestically made furniture.

--BPA-free plastics were found to contain endocrine-disrupters, and a study found that LED light bulbs contain lead and arsenic. Readers took the LED news in stride, however, and one noted that he would “make a mental note to not grind up LEDs as a non-dairy creamer.”

--National Day of Unplugging begins today at sundown.
