I've never tried it personally, but I have read that if you put them in a cage suspended from the floor it's supposed to break them from being broody.  Personally, I just scoop them out of the nest and let them go back in after I collect eggs and they eventually give up, but I have a nest box that allows me to pick them up without getting pecked.  Good luck!

They need to have a cool butt so they don't want to sit. Try an open mesh- bottomed cage. Or if all else fails, give them wooden eggs. When they don't hatch, they sometime give up. Maybe they need a rooster! It would be a chance to increase your flock, or have some meat birds. I have one that does the same thing, and she won't lay. She just sits on the other hens eggs and bites me when I collect. She might end up in the pot yet!

Thank you for the suggestions.  She doesn't peck me when I collect the eggs.  She is a very docile girl   I have pretty much given up on her when it comes to laying.  I had thought about turning her into chicken soup but off all the girls she is my son's favorite and he asks every morning if Ursela layed an egg.  (He named her too).  So I guess we will just keep her hanging around.  I took the roosters out because I got tired of having to fight them off to get in the coop every single day.

One of my hens went broody, gosh about 6 months ago, and is still acting the same.  Is there anything I can do to get her back to normal?  I do not keep roosters with them so naturally the eggs are not going to hatch and I don't leave eggs in the coop.  I usually check several times a day.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
