anyone using hydro power/water wheel for power? Options

My husband and I are planning our retirement home (in about 10 years or so), and we are looking at properties specifically with waterfalls and year-round streams so we can use a water wheel to produce electricity.
How feasible is this?? Suggestions? drawbacks? Any other ideas?

Search the internet for "microhydro",
also one of the windgenerator companies
makes a neat little microhydro generator
but I can''t find the link right now.
The problem is finding just the right
site in a location where laws won''t
stop you from implimenting your plan.

Given the right situation though these
sytems are wonderful. It seems though
that for most of the systems the "head"
or distance water falls it the most crit-
cal factorin generating a decent amount
of power with a microgenerator so that
kind pushes you to look towards a mountainous
