There is a Lindsay publication for you on gassification. lindsaybks.com.

As for the corn conversion, it varies widely.

Yeah, I built a wood gasifier that we use to power a tractor for homestead activities. We used a combined design that took the best parts from three blueprints, including MEN’s plans as well as FEMA’s plans. FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) produces a manual entitled ‘Construction of a Simplified Wood Gas Generator for Fueling Internal Combustion Engines in a Petroleum Emergency” that you can have mailed to you for free. If you have problems finding the article, but they provide means to search for the article by a reference number, write back. Be sure to include the specific name of the number that they request since there are about five different numbers in the cover page material, which is the reason I don’t send you them now. This manual is a great starter’s guide and introduction to the gasification process that is presented in a very simplified, easy to understand manner. The plans are not specifically for the most durable wood gasifier, but you can modify the plans by substituting with more durable materials. Also, the manual provides a very complete reference list that provides information about how to obtain other sources of information.

Has anyone out there built a wood gas generater useing the plans sold by Mother Earth News? I interested in building one.
Also does anyone know what the convertion rate is for an alcohol still? How much corn would it take to make one gallon of fuel for a car?
