Using treated lumber? Options

You will be fine using the treated lumber even if it is CCA treated. You should not use it for horse stalls where cribbing is a possibility. There is little if any risk of the chemicals leaching into the soil.

If you use treated lumber for gardening, i saw a figure a month ago that said that 18" from the log in both directions would contain the contaminates. The close to the log or lumber the higher the concentration. After you get 18" away, there is virtually no contamination from the pressure treated lumber.
As for chickens, I used pressure treated lumber on my coop and have not had a problem at all.

I'm building a portable coop and I can get treated 2x4's for almost the same price as regular lumber. But I'm worried about whether I should use it at all.
It is treated with arsenic. Will this pose a risk to the chickens?
