Had problems with the pic post last night so didn''t make a drawing.
Just whipped one up though.

Kind of rough drawing but you can get the idea.
Haven''t actually added the wire yet - been thinking about making wood equivalents (reel on top, slats on bottom) will probably just use wire though as it will be easier.
oh- reel is sort of a roost that rotates, so they can''t stay on it - think of lumberjacks doing a log roll.

Built myself a chicken feeder today.
The hopper is a 2 foot by 2 foot by 6 inches.
Trimmed a couple of 2x4's at an angle to sit in the bottom of the hopper and kick out the feed.
Made the base about 3 inches larger (2'x 1') and tacked on some edges to hold the feed.
Going to run some wire (or possibly boards) from the hopper to the base to keep the chickens from scratching out the feed, and a couple of loops up top to keep them from roosting.
Should work o.k. unless I missed something in my design - i.e. if I made the hopper opening to big and all the feed runs out - but any problems should be fixable.... I hope.
