About two years ago we came across 130 acers in west virginia. At one time it was an old farm. No house or out buildings, just the land. It does have a hand dug well that is in good shape. The problem i am having is, how do i clean it out. I know it needs something done to it, but it is 25 feet to the bottom and i don't think its safe to climb down into it. I have pumped it dry and scrubed it clean with bleach. Is there anything else i should do to it. I have the water tested and it is a little hard, but good to drink.

If it tested good, depending on what tests you used, you should not need to do anything else...  Other than quarterly testing.

I see you are in WV.  You may want to have a 'settler' on hand.  Most are isinglass mixtures.  They are used when the well gets disturbed and the silt/etc will not settle.  I think Lehmans has the 'Old Settler' brand.

Yes, it wont be a good idea to go into a 25 feet well. I think if the water is hard, then before drinking you can run it thorugh a water softner to make it good.

I would suggest you to take professional help next time.
