I have had poultry since I was 12, but this is the first time I have let a broody hen do the work hatching eggs.   The chicks are 1 month old and momma was doing a great job.  But the last 2 days I have had a dead chick a day!  I moved momma back to the main coop and put the chicks in my brooder.  But I was wondering if anyone had an idea what happened?  Momma hadn't started laying yet and seemed to be interested in caring for the babies.  Another broody I had hatched one egg and the baby is now 3 months old and doing fine.

Thanks for any help!
