Using the zip code for Phoenix in the Gurneys site shows that area as zone 9.  I have no experience with gardening in that warm of a climate (I am in zone 3 so I have the opposite problem), but did a quick search on gardening in zone 9 and came up with a few sites that may be helpful.

This one is from Florida where there is a lot of zone 9: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/vh021

The other is actually from an area with zone 8b but may be helpful to you:  http://www.al.com/images/hg/spring_garden_calendar.pdf

If you work it right, you can take advantage of all of the seasons.  Most of the strawberries that I saw were for down to zone 7 or 8, you probably don't have a long enough dormant cycle for them.  There are some types of Blackberry and Raspberry that are rated for zone 9.  Just don't forget to take the time to enjoy the garden!

I lived in Wickenburg for about 15 yrs and loved it and know the problems with growing vegetables in Maricopa county.  There is a book out about growing vegetables in AZ that is by one of the local well know TV  gardeners/personalities.  You can find it at Barnes and Nobles on Bell St.

I've read on 2 different sites that I am in either USDA 9 or 11....I live in Maricopa, Arizona which is about 35 miles south east of Phoenix.

My question is, I have been trying to grow sweetcorn (with lots of success), strawberries (no success) and pretty much anything else without success.

Does anyone have a list of vegetables that I can grow in this hot zone, I would like a mixture of different vegetables if possible.
