Rainwater Collection Options

THis is the set up we use in my family. Go to your local soda bottling plant, Pepsi, Coke, Uncle Skeeters discount soda emporium, or wherever, and you can usually get the barrels for free or next to nothing. Then follow this video. Without a doubt the best rainbarrel system ever.

From some of the horror stories you hear from well water I am wondering if more people might be better off opting for rainwater collection. In places with lots of rain many people don't consider it because places with lots of rain usually have lots of well water. But with well water sometimes you have to drill down very far, or you get into hard water, and in shallower wells, and even deep wells, there is the potential for contaminations. Especially if you use very little water, or for weekend use only, I don't know why more people don't opt for rainwater collection. Of course the grass is always greener, and you generally hear more about well problems which are probably less than 1% of the norm.

What are some of the costs and problems associated with rainwater collection?
