Chickens vs. slugs

I have read that most animals (and many birds) won't eat slugs because the slugs give off a nasty slime which tastes bad. But chickens cannot taste this slime, so they will eat slugs. Can anyone confirm this?

This year we purchased 12 hens, 4 Rhode Island Red, 4 Barred Rock and 4 Black Sex Linked. We built a chicken moat around the garden for the chicken to patrol. We've had really bad problems with ear wigs and slugs in the past. I've seen our chickens go after and eat the slugs. I can't say for certain if they do it regularly or if they've learned to avoid them after a few encounters but I can say for certain that the damage in the garden caused by both ear wigs and slugs is way down this year. I still have been using eco slug bait though, but used this in previous years with some, but not complete success. I have to say that I love my little anti-bug army! Can't wait for eggs which should be coming in about a month.
