Workshop Description
Learn how to create healthy soil by using compost, redworms, mulch and cover crops. Polyculture gardening, fruit tree guilds and food forests will be defined and explored, as well as crop selection and placement in the permaculture garden. Examples will include fruits and nuts, fruiting shrubs, vines, cane fruit, fruiting ground covers, perennial vegetables, annual vegetables, mushrooms, edible herbs and flowers, and grains.

Speaker Bio
Christopher Shein has started dozens of community, school and market gardens. He teaches permaculture at Merritt Community College, where he helped develop the award-winning student farm. Shein also owns Wildheart Gardens, a permaculture landscape business that designs and builds sustainable gardens.
