Cindy Knight of Fair sponsor Toyota loans Mother Earth News publisher Bryan Welch a prototoype plug-in Prius

Bryan Welch, publisher of Mother Earth News:
Cindy and Toyota are loaning us one of the first plug-in Prius hybrids on a long-term loan to use, to write about and to experiment with.

Cindy’s the kind of person, and Toyota’s the kind of company that, when they brought it to us, said, ‘Now, we want you to tell us everything that’s wrong with this, and why it’s not as good as it can be.’

Of course, I’m liable to get kind of excited and say some good stuff about it, too. I’m inclined to do that. But we think it’s super cool that we can use this opportunity to let Cindy pass the keys off.

My new car is the car sitting in the tent over here at the Renewable Energy tent, so don’t be scratching the paint!

Cindy Knight of Fair sponsor Toyota:
Toyota is incredibly proud to be a sponsor of the Mother Earth News Fair for the second year in a row. I think it’s a great event for us to come out and explain our advanced technology vehicles to this kind of audience who cares about sustainable mobility, and wants to lead a sustainable lifestyle.

That’s why we’re lending Bryan and his crew at Mother Earth News this prototype plug-in Prius hybrid for six months to get their really honest feedback about this car, and their feedback about how it fits with the sustainable lifestyle that they aspire to live.

At Toyota we’re inspired by the same sense of optimism and spirit of innovation that motivates Bryan and is the whole driving force behind Mother Earth News. So look out for his impressions, he’ll be telling it all, warts and all, the good, the bad, the ugly, about this car and look for it on sale early in 2012, and come and visit us by the Renewable Energy stage. We’ll answer any questions about what’s coming, what’s new, and how everything works.

Bryan:
And don’t lean on it!

Cindy:
Thank you very much.
