Albert Bates is co-founder of three organizations: Global Village Institute for Appropriate Technology, the Ecovillage Network of the Americas and the Global Ecovillage Network. Author of 13 books on environment, health and history, Albert appears frequently as a public speaker, commentator and podcast guest, and is a regular blogger and tweeter.

On any given day, Bryan Welch, publisher and editorial director at Ogden Publications, might spend his early morning hours tending to the cattle on his farm near Lawrence, Kan.; his lunchtime polishing an essay for Utne Reader at his Topeka office; and his evening attending a Hollywood cocktail reception for the launch of a green media initiative.
