Workshop Description

Living with alpacas as a sustainable farming alternative has become one of the more interesting and creative ways to use small to large pastureland acreage. Alpacas wear a fabulous renewable product on their backs and are happy to share it with us on a yearly basis. Come and learn the tangible value of these gentle and ancient creatures of the earth.

Speaker Bio

Barbara Banks started a small family alpaca breeding business in 1997, while working in information technology for a major aerospace company. She participated in 4-H with her daughter for six years, using their alpacas for the project. She has had many years of raising and sustaining alpacas, from newborn to elder. She sees the advantage for different aged individuals to raise alpacas, and she's happiest when she can maintain contact with the people with whom she does business. Her primary goal is to share whatever knowledge she can, as needed, with people new to alpaca ownership.
