Are Water-Based Interior Paints Safe for Kids?

Water-based paints have risen in popularity thanks in part to claims that, compared with oil-based paints, they’re lower in volatile organic compounds (also known as VOCs) that are harmful to breathe. However, some of these paints contain propylene glycol or glycol ethers, and a new study says these solvents are just as risky, especially for children. Here’s why.
