My husband and I discovered those plastic shaker tops from Parmesan cheese containers fit perfectly on regular-sized canning jars.

They work great for our dried herbs and spice blends, including our favorite barbecue rub. If the holes are too big for your liking, the lid can be lined with clean window screening.
