Tandoori Oven from a Garbage Can

I’ve been thinking about building a rocket stove and/or earth oven. The rocket stoves seem to make good use of small branches that might otherwise end up in a landfill. And why not keep heat from cooking outside during the summer instead of using electricity to heat the stovetop and then run the air conditioner to cool down the house?

Here’s a unique idea on the instructables site for a tandoor oven (tandoori oven) made from a garbage can and a clay flowerpot. Check it out.

Ofcourse a solar oven is only good around high noon. U starve the rest of the time. I'd prefere using an electric oven run off a deep cycle batter recharged by a solar panel/wind gen. Now that's a more flexible setup.

A rocket stove improves the burning of small pieces of wood, directing most of the heat to the pot that does the cooking. Yet, it is still burning wood. Wouldn't a solar oven be a better idea? Here's a link to a page that has a couple of different DIY solar oven designs. These solar ovens can be built for under $10. http://www.greenterrafirma.com/diy-solar-oven.html Enjoy....
