Tying the Dutchman Knot or Rope Tackle

The rope tackle is a handy rope tie that everyone who has to tote a large load can use.

Make an upper and a lower loop.

Run the free rope end around your mooring and then through the in-line loop.

Pass the lower loop — which should be closer to the rope's loose end — through the upper to form a large in-line loop.

"Tighten 'er down" and finish off the knot with half hitches.
