Power Tool Poll

11/12/2010 10:12:48 AM

Tags:

A few weeks ago, we asked the following question: If you could keep only one power tool and had to use hand tools for everything else, which power tool would you keep? I expected that power saws would win, hands down. But I was wrong! The results were almost even for power drills and saws.

Here is the breakdown of the 2,068 votes:

Drill — 945

Saw — 880

Router — 122

Nail gun — 70

Sander — 51

The poll is still open, you can weigh in on your can't-work-without-it power tool.

I think the question could have been a bit clearer. When I hear "favourite power tool," I think of my table saw, but if I hear "favourite HAND power tool," I think of my semi-cordless drill, a 12V model that I got for $1 at a yard sale because the battery was shot and no longer available. I soldered six feet of #10 twin-lead to it, put Anderson Power Pole "red and black" on the end, and run the thing from a 7AH gel-cel.
