Kristen Kilfoyle, Polyface Farm Intern

Name: Kristen KilfoyleKristen Kilfoyle Polyface Farm Intern

Occupation: Polyface Farm summer 2014 intern; Future farmer; Homesteader; Writer and Blogger

Place of Residence: Newport, New Hampshire

Background and Personal History: Kristen is new to farming and is excited to intern this summer at Polyface Farm. After her internship, she plans to raise heritage chickens, pigs, ducks, specialty poultry and eventually cows with her fiancé, Dan, on their 45-acre property in Newport, N.H.

Current Projects: At the moment, Kristen is setting up a farm business, and fixing up her 1890s farmhouse is taking up most of her time. Kristen and Dan’s property has a dilapidated sugar shack they’d like to get running again and need to go through the property and find the maples. (They should have done that before winter.)

Other Fun Facts: Kristen enjoys gardening, reading, cooking, sewing, crafts and projects around the house. She grew up with horses but sold them after she started working, and she now misses them. One of her goals is to have her own horse by the time she’s 40. She also owns a rescue dog who was left at a Petco in Little Rock, Ark., when he was a puppy.
