Alison Rogers used to dream about a job in which she could write about agriculture and its relation to the environment, but she never thought she’d be lucky enough to find it, especially in her hometown of Topeka, Kan.
At Mother Earth News since 2006, Ali is the editor for the Sustainable Farming category, and co-editor of the Nature and Community category. She manages the Green Gazette, Earthwords, Kitchen Garden and We CU departments (submit your photos online today!) in the magazine, and maintains the Sustainable Farming category page on the Web. She also is responsible for the bi-weekly Simple Living & Country Skills e-newsletter. You can read her posts in The Happy Homesteader Blog.
Ali is a graduate of Kansas State University, where she studied agricultural communications and natural resource and environmental science — a combination that becomes increasingly relevant as the world’s population soars and finite resources become increasingly scarce.
Food production and policy are at the top of Ali's list of interests, which also includes wildlife and natural resource conservation. Evenings and weekends, Ali enjoys being with her family, and two muddy-yet-lovable herding dogs. All of them spend as much time out-of-doors as possible.
