Megan Hirt, Associate Editor
Megan hails from Topeka, Kan., and graduated from the University of Kansas in 2008 with degrees in Journalism and French. She first entered the world of MOTHER EARTH NEWS in summer 2007 as an editorial intern and has been on board full time since March 2009.
Megan’s primary duties at MOTHER EARTH NEWS include copy editing all magazine content, keeping the website home page in shape, managing the MOTHER EARTH NEWS Facebook page, and putting together the Dear MOTHER and EarthWords departments in the magazine as well as the MOTHER EARTH NEWS Online section, which spotlights all of the many cool things happening on our website.
While at the University of Kansas, Megan won second place in the nation in the Hearst Journalism Foundation intercollegiate in-depth writing competition for her story A Sobering Struggle, which profiled college students battling alcoholism.
Aside from writing and editing, Megan’s favorite things include France, the French language, dance, summer, the sky, psychology and brightly colored scarves.
