Legal brewhaha
Federal regulations allow any person of legal drinking age to produce wine for personal or family use, but not to sell. A household with one adult may produce 100 gallons of tax-free wine per calendar year. A household with two or more adults may produce 200 gallons. This does not extend to partnerships, corporations or associations, and it does not override state or local laws. For more information, visit www.wineinstitute.org/fedlaw/regs .
