High Energy Bills on the rise, and right now a lot of people are worried about high home energy bills, including the costs of air conditioning, heating, and electricity.
The good news is that there are a lot of easy, inexpensive ways you can do to bring your energy bills down immediately.
Every kilowatt hour (kWh) of electricity produces about 1.7 pounds of carbon dioxide equivalent. Take a look at the number of kilowatt hours. Double it (in most cases) and you’re looking at pounds of greenhouse gas emissions. Want to thin about pounds of carbon emissions and how to lost them?

One forward thinking environmental company has began manufacturing a new device that is a Whole House Energy Management System…
It’s time to face the facts.
Energy costs are on the rise, and the amount of electronics in our homes is growing daily. At the same time, the appliances and electronic devices in our homes are under attack from surges, spikes and electrical noise every day. You need a Whole Home Energy Management System.

Say, “Hello!” to the PowerwoRx e3, a clean power system based on the same technology that has been used for years by big industry and utility companies. The PowerwoRx e3 provides your home with:
    • Power conditioning abilities that translate directly into savings.
    • An easy installation that creates immediate benefits.
    • A cost-effective solution that is amazingly maintenance-free.

Save Energy, Save Money, And Save Your Appliances
Save up to 20-30% on your home electric bill
Patented UL listed PowerwoRx technology that is easy to install
    Quick ROI (return on investment)…
10 year warranty and home appliance guarantee.

YOU CAN FOOL ALL OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIMEYOU CAN FOOL SOME
OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIMELET'S HOPE AL GORE CAN'T FOOL ALL OF
THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME.......................PLEASE - do not
erase your credibility by selling out to the greatest scam ever
perpetrated on folks by AL "our pal" GORE. This carbon footprint
garbage is just another scare tactic to manipulte people into
demanding even more oppressive legislation to "protect us" from
imagined evils. The earth heats and cools - it's a fact SENDING AL
GORE MONEY AND PRAISING HIS FLAWED SCIENCE DOES NOT AFFECT THE
NATURAL COURSE OF OUR CLIMATE.Knowledge is power and preparing for
the inevitable is much more valuable than making circles out of
human bodies on the white house lawn.

This blog posting really made an impression on people. It's too
bad that that the Blog Action Day for the Environment post on
October 15, 2007 was ignored by most Mother Earth readers. Happily,
I have noticed that people from all sides of the political spectrum
read Mother Earth News. What is the common factor that holds us all
together on the same boat? I believe it is our desire to use
sustainable processes to save money, the environment or both. Let's
enjoy Mother Earth News. I doubt if anyone will agree with EVERY
article that is written or the independent ideas of their guests,
but it is still a great magazine. Let's be thankful that we have
this wonderful forum in which to debate or add to the conversation
about simple living on the Earth. When I first subscribed again, I
wondered how the new Mother Earth News would be in keeping with the
traditions of the old. I have been pleasantly surprised, especially
with their encouragement for smaller spaces, in urban and rural
areas. It is always easier to tear something or someone down than
it is to contribute to a rational growth and development. That is
why farmers and those who love nature are such rare birds these
days. It seems to me that anyone, including Vice-President Gore,
who helps people think about the environment, ecosystems and
habitats, deserves our respect and should be commended. I know
there are those who love to hate. I would suggest that you "count
to ten....then to one hundred", let your blood pressure decrease,
and then try to rationally frame your arguments about the topic...
It seems to me that the internet often makes us feel anonymous, so
it may seem easier to personalize our attacks. In fact, you are not
really anonymous. Try to take the high road if you can. This often
achieves more positive long term results for your
    argument.

  • Barbara O&aposReilly 10/19/2007 12:00:00 AM

Can we keep the politicians and personalities out of this? Is it
bad enough that we cast votes based on spin and the size of the
campaign budget? How does cleaner energy harm the middle class?
Cleaner environment? Saving money? What is wrong with clean air,
water, and an affordable energy bill? Do you really want to leave
this planet a used up mess so you don't have to sacrifice energy
expenditure? The people in power love fanning the flames of these
petty arguments so that they can continue to do what they do. Think
    for yourselves!

  • DICK LEONE 10/17/2007 12:00:00 AM

I disagree with the commenters that claim that Megan Phelps
"gushed" over Al Gore & his Nobel Peace Prize; but I’m not
surprised by the intensity of some of the comments. Gore-bashing is
a fun sport, but it won’t change the reality of the science. The
phrase “don’t shoot the messenger” wasn’t invented with him in
mind...so it’s a well that’s been around for a long time and easy
to fall in to. Some theorize that Gore-bashing persists because he
won the popular vote in 2000, leaving a taste of illegitimacy to
the 1st Bush administration. (Paul Krugman, NYTimes Oct. 15, 2007
“Gore Derangement Syndrome”). But it’s way past time to move
on.PBert’s comments about the round / flat Earth controversy are
right on. While we’re here – maybe we should also rail against the
nut-case conspiracy theorists who are pushing the crazy science
(oops! “theory”) that tobacco-smoke is detrimental to human health.
Evolution anyone? That many commenters seem not to be aware that the
majority of climatologists believe that human activity is
responsible for a significant portion of the current global warming
is a bit surprising. Everyone will stand by their favorite
web-sites and sources, so I’ll contribute just this one:
    http://www.nasa.gov/worldbook/global_warming_worldbook.html“...Climatologists
(scientists who study climate) have analyzed the global warming
that has occurred since the late 1800's. A majority of
climatologists have concluded that human activities are responsible
for most of the warming...”No serious publication with “Earth” in
it’s title could ignore this topic, or fail to take it
appropriately seriously. Keep up the good work, Mother Earth
    News.

  • WYOMING Buckskin 10/16/2007 12:00:00 AM

After being shocked and sadly surprised by Mother Earth News
gushing over Al Gore's popularity contest prize I thought I would
be the lone voice begging for rational thought, real science and
answers to how to live in changing environments. Obviously, MEN has
bright, well-read, real down-to-earth people who know what the real
issues are at hand. I hope that the staff at MEN will drop the
paparazzi press line before I drop my subscription. And then offer
us an apology for your lapse of judgement and good sense!

  • Nancy Peck 10/16/2007 12:00:00 AM

Why do so many people, especially Americans, have their head in
the sand over global warming? It is a shame that so many are
unwilling to change their comfortable lifestyles, and/or prefer to
be negative about everything. Frankly I AM concerned about both
global warming and all other forms of environmental destruction,
especially the toxic and nuclear wastes of our greedy society.
Perhaps if we all tried to be creative and look for positive
solutions, we could all be happier and healthier and who knows,
    perhaps a wee bite wiser.

  • Logan K 10/15/2007 12:00:00 AM

So do you all hate John McCain as much as you do Al Gore? McCain
says global warming would be one of three key issues in his
    presidency.http://www.grist.org/feature/2007/10/01/mccain_factsheet/index.htmlBut
let me guess, he's not enough of an isolationist for you?

  • Robert Jones 10/15/2007 12:00:00 AM

Mr. Gore and his information about global warming is a joke.
This should NOT be in Mother Earth News. I am disappointed. Also,
his wrong opinions have nothing to do with PEACE.The Nobel Peace
Prize has nothing to do with peace anymore, look a some of the
    recent past recipients.

  • Phill Bert 10/15/2007 12:00:00 AM

The commenters here aren't focused on the true crisis facing us:
the fact that our schools are teaching our children that the earth
is round! Just like global warming, there are scientists on both
sides of the flat earth debate. (This Web site says so, which means
it must be true: http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/) So forget all
of this global warming nonsense and focus on the real threat - that
we'll walk off the edge of the earth!Sorry, just had to get in on
some of the crazy that seems to be going around. When some of you
are ready to take your heads out of the sand, recognize that global
warming is real and that we can stop it, and then take steps to
help prevent our children and grandchildren from living in a much
harsher world, we'd love to have you. Until then, lay off the crazy
    juice and lay off MEN.

    Al Gore's house vs. Bush's
    househttp://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/house.aspWhen I grow up, I
want to be like Al Gore. Live in a 10,000 sq ft house and fly in
private jets around the world.I also want to be rich like John
Edwards and live in a 28,000 sq ft
    house.http://carolinajournal.com/exclusives/display_exclusive.html?id=3848

  • james SLAWSON 10/14/2007 12:00:00 AM

I am really disappointed in Mother Earth News. gore is a total
fraud. he has never been anything but a politician and he must be a
temendous disappointment to his family of politicians. I am afraid
I cannot re-new my subscription to a magazine that publishes this
    foolishness.

  • Logan K 10/14/2007 12:00:00 AM

Wow, I'm amazed at the comments posted to this article. I'm
almost embarrassed that these people read Mother Earth News and
Mother Earth Living. OK, maybe you don't like Al Gore, but don't
give me this conspiracy theory garbage about global warming. The
science is in. We're warming the Earth. End of discussion. Do your
homework. Just because you can find some right-wing Web site that
bashes Gore and global warming doesn't mean it's true. Even IF
global warming weren't real, what the heck would it hurt to switch
our energy economy to renewable energy?! Do you people want us to
stick with dirty coal and its implications? Do you really need your
massive SUV that much? And don't trash Mother or the writer for this
piece -- there are no scare tactics or hysterics. It's typical
Mother: full of great ideas and resources to help you learn more
and make a difference, both for yourself and the
    environment.

  • Gretchen B 10/13/2007 12:00:00 AM

Seems to me Al Gore's carbon footprint is at least 500 times
mine. We ALL need to be good stewards. MEN needs to do more
research before jumping on the bandwagon.

  • betty McCarrell 10/13/2007 12:00:00 AM

Hello,I have read, printed and will build a bat house to help
control the mosquito population around our home. I am wondering if
you know of a similar thing we can do to control the population of
the deer and horse fly.Thank you.Betty.

  • PETE GOTCHALL 10/13/2007 12:00:00 AM

Ditto with most of the comments.Al Gore has a hobby. He really
needs to take up an exercise and leave science alone.Remembering
the early 50s in western Kansas when we had some very cold winters
and they were talking iceage...We have a very small window of
history at this time to justify all of Gore's garbage.Mother Earth
News needs to tone it down a bit. No more hysterics please.PG,

I really enjoy MEN and have gained much knowledge from it that
has led me down a much healthier and conservation minded road. That
being said, I feel Mother needs to pull back and really take a look
at its gushing over Al "don't do as I do. do as I say" Gore. Yes I
believe we have global warming going on at this time, just as we
have in the past. Plus, don't forget a few ice ages tossed in here
and there. I have looked at both sides of the issue and do not feel
that there is enough evidence to state that this is all man's fault
and not part of a natural cycle. Yes we may be speeding things up,
with the important word maybe. But to follow a book and movie that
have been proven to have false statements, and facts, just because
it is politically green to do so is crazy. Not to mention someone
who takes credit for things that he did not create. We need to look
at this scientifically. You did not just say that free ranging
chicken eggs were healthier, in a recent issue, you tested them and
did research. How about doing the same with this issue. As far as
the Nobel Peace Prize we should all be proud of Gore, after all he
beat out a lady who managed to save 2500 kids from the gas
chambers. Maybe Gore will will have a victory party in one of his
giant houses and fly us all there in his private jet.

  • RON MACH 10/12/2007 12:00:00 AM

Obviously, M.E.N. and the the Nobel Peace fools are not aware
that the data, used to show that the last decade has been the
hottest, is erroneous. The extreme green NASA scientist who
compiled the records made a huge math error. 1934 is still the
hottest year on record and 6 of the 10 hottest years on record
occurred before 1940. The dust bowl era was the hottest not the
90's or 2000's as the "dollar pig" Al Goreee has indicated. His
story is just that, a fabricated story with half truths, innuendo
and down right lies. If it wasn't for the money the "dollar pig"
would be promoting something else. These self proclaimed apostle's
always have an agenda and it is always fueled by the money they can
make. The national news media, who support the global warming
theory, have tried to bury the new data that NASA has put out to
correct the global heat data scare but many small newspapers and
research groups have published it anyway. Don't be fooled, check
out the facts before you believe a politician like goreeee who has
enriched himself like all politicians do by promoting fear and
asking for your donations. You can read more about NASA backtracks
    on 1998 Warmest Year here:
    http://eteam.ncpa.org/commentaries/climate-figures-need-scrutinyAlso,
a British High Court Judge ruled that Gore's film had 9 significant
errors and was inflammatory and alarmist, the day after he received
    his Nobel liars prize.

  • Chris Hancock 10/12/2007 12:00:00 AM

The world is not going to explode because of our mismanagement.
Our ability to live in the environment we create is what is in
question. Sometimes there are things we should do just because it's
a good idea. Less polution is bound to be better, utilizing
resources such as water and energy more effectively and efficiently
isn't going to hurt anyone. Also, anyone who references ncpa.org "A
Leader in Promoting Private Alternatives to Government Regulation
and Control" should consider researching a more unbiased source of
    information.

  • cc clark 10/12/2007 12:00:00 AM

We can be green but lets not act like we are stupid. The change
of climate is nothing new to Earth. Anyone thinking we humans are
anything but a pimple on Earth is a fool...Actually if you follow
the money then you'll know why Al Gore the other bamboozlers are
spending a lot of money to convence us we can change the climate.
ha! that is greeny thinking alright...this climate is cycle...we
are in/THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO TO CHANGE THE CLIMATE AND I AM
DISGUSTED THAT MOTHER EARTH MAGAZINE IS PROMOTING AL GORE YUKE! HE
    IS SICKENING!!!!!

  • Keith Stone 10/12/2007 12:00:00 AM

I like to learn ways to better steward the planet, but have to
agree with the comments made that the facts be checked and the
scare tactics should be abandoned. I can only hope the magazine
will do so in the future.

  • K Burt 10/12/2007 12:00:00 AM

I USED TO think MEN was a common-sense magazine. After seeing Ms
Phelps gushing article about ALGORE I doubt I'll ever waste my time
or money on another copy. All LOONY-MAN wants is the adulation of
useful-idiots (it isn't even about money). Guess you now know what
I think of Ms Phelps & MEN. After my grown daughter sees this
she's not likely to renew her subscription either. She's a nice
sensible young woman.Ms Phelps should read the U.N.'s Agenda 21 (if
she can google)& see what's bearing down on us because of all
    the Useful-Idiots.

  • Kris Minefee 10/12/2007 12:00:00 AM

Well that cuts it for me, a magazine that thinks Al Gore's
Inconvenient Truth is impressive is not a magazine I want to be
associated with. The movie and book are filled with untruths,
inconsistencies and outright lies. Instead of taking a balanced
approach to environmentalism it tries to take political power from
every nation on earth under the guise of not only an unproved
theory but an untenable one. Man for all his polluting and
disrespect of God's earth can't affect climate change anymore than
he can visualize world peace. Shame on you for buying into this
power grab,Mother Earth. You should have more respect than to be
another prostitute to power. My subscription to the newsletter is
    canceled.
