Aug. 28 is International Kitchen Garden Day, an annual celebration of food gardening, local food and home cooking. The special event, organized by Kitchen Gardeners International, a nonprofit formed in 2003, promotes the benefits of organic gardening and eating locally, and encourages community spirit.
