The Complete Guide to Internet Privacy

Another product I am quite impressed with for cable modem and DSL users sharing an Internet connection is the Watchguard SOHO hardware firewall. This unit, though a bit technical for most folks, allows you to share one DSL or cable line with multiple PCs while choosing a level of filtering. It comes with a one-year subscription to use its internal Web site content-filtering feature. This is one heck of a good brute-force way to stop undesirable Web sites from getting to your systems. Instead of some nasty Web site, you get a bold red screen that tells you the site you asked for has been blocked - and it logs the incident for review at a later time. This may be counter to privacy on the Internet, but it is a wonderful feature for determining if your Internet connection is being abused.
