Before You Invest...
Before investing in any mutual or money market fund—or directly in any company, for that matter—you may want to take the following steps:
Educate yourself. Ifyou're a newcomer to the world of investing, you'd do well to teach yourself the basic terminology and concepts involved. Many community colleges offer courses on the subject, and any neighborhood library will prove to be a good source of information. [EDITOR'S NOTE: There are a number of excellent books available today on investing. One that seems to do an especially good job of approaching the subject—and money management in general—from the beginner's point of view is Sylvia Porter's New Money Book for the 80's by Sylvia Porter (Avon, 1980, $9.95) . . . you'll find it in most bookstores.]
