Pallet Woodshed

Can you post some more pictures and or plans for your pallet firewood shed? I would like to build one and would love as much more information about building yours as you are willing to provide.

my grandparents built their first house completely out of pallets. my grandad would bring the old pallets home from where he worked. my grandma would take them apart and straighten the nails as best she could then they would add to the house as they could. this was in the 1920s / 1930s.

I love wood pallets, one of the neatest things I have used them for was a movable animal fence for dogs....I hinged 2 together like a bi-fold door, Did this 5 times with 10 pallets Placed them where I wanted them to be, then where the 2 met that weren't hinged I used 2x4 boards to lock them together by sliding the wood into the slats area of both pallets....this way I could unlock it easily if needed plus it is easier to move 2 hinged pallets than a whole huge lot of them...I used this for an area for my big dogs when we lived on a small lot with no fencing.....they were also easier to store either up or on the ground.... I also did this with 4 to make a leaf, grass compost area in the far back yard, out of the way but very useful. I am also going to try the chicken coop idea & use unwanted packing peanuts as insulation, I use plastic heavy duty tarping over the walls & ceiling of my coop to help prevent mites & much easier to wash down than wood.

I found that if you use pilot holes, and screws , the building is olot easer than bending five pounds of nails.

This pallet shed looks great & it would be great as a chicken coop too with a few additions. My double decker chicken coop was made from pallet crates; the top is all enclosed for the coop & the bottom is open to the air for all of the hanging food containers & the water dish with wings that hinge open for the day's rain cover & close at night to keep rodents out of the feed. I read yesterday that pallets were used as a quick fix for someone with flooding; pallets were thrown down in the yard to give their chickens something to walk in out of the temporary flooded area. Pallets are very useful for many things.

I am all for using waste wood as much as possible 35% of the waste in the land fill is wood that could be recycled. At myflowerbox we make over 80 different planters from waste wood, and have upcycled 100's of tons of wood in the last 15 years.
