Both tipis and yurts foster a sense of community and equality: It is impossible to be at the head of the table when you are sitting in a circle. (The Web sites listed in the Resource boxes on Pages 57 and 60 offer lots of photos of circle living in tall tipis and sturdy yurts.) Remember childhood days spent in your own private hideaway made of blankets and chairs? If you could use a private space to play and dream, a tipi or yurt may be your perfect choice.
