Skills like this used to be handed on from one generation to the next . . . and, in our family, they still are. We don't anticipate leaving behind us a bundle to be split by Uncle Sam and our heirs—brick mansions to decay and tumble, or automobiles and boats to rust out-but, with God's help, we do intend to pass on a way of life for our children and others to follow if they want true peace of mind and contentment. Teaching our offspring to plow is a small but important part of this heritage.

We want our children not only to use the horse or mule successfully, but to enjoy using him . . . to feel a surge of God's presence in their souls when they're in the middle of a green cornfield "laying by" their crop. We want them to feel the soft earth around their feet and legs and to know that it lives. We want their bodies to be strong and their limbs agile. We want them-in short-to know their purpose for being on this earth and to meditate on it while Following the Plow.
