The link above does not take you to the compost video.

Good info.. I find it pretty easy to compost once you are in the mindset that a lot of the fruit and vegetables you discard could easily be added to a compost box.

I created my compost bin from discarded 3x3 pallets. They worked out pretty well.

If anyone is interested, I added the steps and pictures of the process.

    Happy Composting!

I am very gratified for these informative comments. I didn't realize it could be this inexpensively easy. I'm looking forward to pursuing this rather than the trench composting I have been doing.

My Daughter and I built a pallet composting bin in about 10 minutes. We didn't use string though we used old wire hangers to hold the corners together then we can just undo one and open the "door" to stir or remove the soil we made. We plan on making another one next to it when it gets full. the new one will be a 3 sided box attached to the first one with the same kind of door.

Another way I found to use pallets for a compost pile was to fasten three of equal size to three fence posts in a row on our wood fence, which creates two bins 8 feet wide. This leaves the front open for working the compost. You can also start in one bin and after the material starts to decompose, move it to the next bin and start over in the first. Personally, I filled both sides over time, and when we returned home from an extended vacation, had beautiful pure compost...about one tenth the original volume.

The compost bin video is nice. I like the one using the 4 pallets. There are often ads in the paper for free pallets and this is a good way to reuse them. They also look nice if you plane them and use them for book shelves. Thanks for the new site to check out also. As always.. keep up the good work.
