If anyone is planning to build their own home but objects
to the poured, monolithic foundation, I have come across a
great alternative. In my local building supply center, I
have noticed they now sell 12" x 2' to 3' kraft molding
tubes. These can be used to pour pylons on which to set
beams. If you want larger pylons, you might use some
similar large form or container. You should probably drive
a 41 galvanized fence post into the ground at the center of
the tube.
