Finding out that your house has an old, ungrounded electrical system isn't the end of the world — it's a wake-up call. Cables made without ground wires are old. Old cables mean old, fraying insulation. And old, fraying, insulation means ...well, you get the picture. You don't have to rewire the entire house at one time, and if local codes permit it, you could do the work yourself. Of course, you'll need to know more than you learned in this small article. But if you can learn a new skill that can bring you both savings and satisfaction, I say go for it, and more power to you.
