In addition to the scheduled workshops listed above, Peter is willing to travel and make his teaching services available to any college, craft school, museum, or group of individuals who can round up enough interested folks to share the reasonable cost. (Peter's address is in the following listing.)

Peter-Built Log Homes

Besides teaching, Peter Gott also custom-builds homes. Each of Peter's log creations is unique, designed to blend naturally with the land while meeting the needs and budget of the owner. Peter can furnish his own (damn fast) crew, or the customer and his or her family and friends can cut costs, learn a lot, and join in the fun by pitching in to help (Peter will provide the specialized tools).

For an informative booklet containing photographs, rates, and other details of Peter's teaching and building services, send $1.00 (to help defray printing and postage costs) to Peter Gott Log Buildings, Tater Gap Rd., Marshall, NC 28753.

The Gott Family Band

If you're a bluegrass-style mountain music fan, you owe it to yourself to send for a copy of Cowbell Hollow, the Gott family's toe-tappin' LP. The album is packed with 18 lively traditional banjo, fiddle, standup bass, flatpicked guitar, and vocal tunes-all performed by the Gott family four. Cowbell Hollow is available by mail directly from Peter (see the address in the previous listing) for $8.00 postpaid, or from Skyline Records (P.O. Box 8711, Asheville, NC 28814) for the same price. This is good music, friends.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Many people would love to have a log home or vacation cottage but simply don't have the time to go the owner-builder route. If you fall into that category, you'll be glad to know that we're busily preparing a market survey of the many fine manufacturers of kit log homes and will feature that article in the near future.

I am seriously thinking of building log buildings. I read about the
skids yy you mentioned to raise the logs, that sounds interesting. I
need to figure out how to do it by myself. I have a winch on my
truck. But if it is not too expensive I might want to make a
derrick like you talked about. Is ther anyy reference material that
will helpme in this endever? Thanks Mike
